Following a successful launch in March, the Prince George’s County Committee of the MD Lynching Memorial Project will hold its next meeting on Sunday, April 28 at 2:00p at the University Christian Church in Hyattsville.

The purpose of the meeting is to organize and begin planning a series of community remembrance projects in the county to commemorate the five documented lynchings that occurred here.

  • Thomas Juricks in Piscataway on October 12, 1869
  • John Henry Scott in Notley Hall on March 23, 1875
  • Mike Green in Upper Marlboro on September 1, 1878
  • Joseph Vermilion in Upper Marlboro on December 3, 1889
  • Stephen Williams in Upper Marlboro on October 20, 1894
