Planning community remembrance projects
The next meeting of the Prince George’s County Committee of the MD Lynching Memorial Project will take place on Saturday, June 1 at 10:00a at the University Christian Church in Hyattsville.
The purpose of the meeting is to continue to organize and plan a series of community remembrance projects in the county to commemorate the five documented lynchings that occurred here.
- Thomas Juricks in Piscataway on October 12, 1869
- John Henry Scott in Notley Hall on March 23, 1875
- Mike Green in Upper Marlboro on September 1, 1878
- Joseph Vermilion in Upper Marlboro on December 3, 1889
- Stephen Williams in Upper Marlboro on October 20, 1894
